Director: Tatia Pilieva
Cast: Deborah Ann Woll, Luke Grimes, John Diehl
After experiencing a tragic loss, a young investigative reporter joins an enigmatic commune of people united by their sorrowful past.
It’s rather difficult for me to formulate a coherent opinion about this small indie drama by Tatia Pilieva, and this is why I won’t be rating it with the star system. To be completely honest, ‘Forever’ almost put me off with what felt to me like a confused and directionless first act. Fortunately, as plot and motives became clearer and the relationships between characters developed, I started adjusting to the unusual and unsettling theme and atmosphere of the film. By the end, I needed to know what would happen with all of those people.
The cast includes several well-known talents, such as Deborah Ann Woll (currently starring on Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’), Jill Larson, Seth Gable and Ioan Gruffudd, all of them delivering solid and honest performances.
‘Forever’ is an interesting but mildly flawed study on the different ways of coping with grief and tragedy. For me, it was mostly a hit, with a little bit of a miss. But I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about it.
